Five fun ways to announce your engagementPublished on 8th December '14
The ring is on your finger, the tears have just about dried up and the Champagne bottle is empty. You're engaged and now you've had some time alone to celebrate as a couple and soak up the moment, it's time to spread the love. Sharing your exciting engagement news is almost as exciting as the moment itself so make sure you do it right. With friends and family scattered across the country - and often, across the globe - it can be difficult to tell everybody in person, so here are some fun ways to tell the world you're getting married! Newspaper announcement: If you want to keep things traditional and do something a little different then why not turn to your local newspaper to spread the news of your engagement? Most local, regional and national newspapers have a special section and members of the public can pay to place an announcement. A lovely way to share the news and a special keepsake for you, your family and friends. Engagement announcement cards: If you're planning on taking your time before wedding planning begins and have some engagement photos you want to share with your nearest and dearest, send out engagement announcement cards to celebrate. It's also something nice for family and friends to hang on to as a reminder of the special news. Party surprise: If you'd like to make a big impact with your announcement, throw a party to get all your relatives and friends in the same room. Once everyone has a glass of something fizzy, you can shout your news from the rooftops! Social media: It may seem slightly impersonal but, once you've told your parents and closest friends, social media can be the easiest - and most fun - way to spread news of your engagement. Update your relationship status on Facebook, post an #Isaidyes tweet or share a fun photo on Instagram - and prepare to be bombarded by retweets, shares, likes and congratulatory comments. Proposal pictures or video: If your other half was thoughtful enough to plan a photographer or videographer to capture your special moment you could use the pictures or final video edit to announce your engagement by sending them to everybody or by posting the video online for all to see.
